Blooming Beautiful Flowers

Inspired by the art in Rooms 6 and 25, we are making fabulous flowers,  using a range of cutting techniques to add texture to our art.

Fantastic teachers from Room 6 came to show us how to construct our flowers.  They were so patient and helpful while we learnt what to do.

We loved being creative and messy!

How to Be Respectful and Responsible on a school trip

This week all learners at our school are going to participate in an athletics day at the Trusts Stadium.

Our school P.B.4.L values are

• be the best you can be

We are thinking about how to show respect and responsibility when we are on our school trip.

Be Respectful

• Use quiet voices and sit still on the bus - Bilal
• Use equipment respectfully in the way it should be used - Millie
• Keep your hands and feet to yourself - Zak
• Listen and follow instructions - Aggie

Be Responsible

• Don't play in the carpark - Sam
• Stay with your group so you don't get lost - Komal
• Take turns - Ziggy

Feeding Rumble and Marigold

Today we had the opportunity to feed our school rabbits Rumble and Marigold.

Mrs Rogers introduced us to our new school rabbit Marigold. We were able to gently stroke Marigold.

Last term for Social Studies we learnt about farming and how a farmer needs to be responsible when growing plants.

We are learning to write Compound sentences with conjunctions.

Sam - "Today we fed the rabbits but they did not eat our leaves."

Raynah - "Komal was scared of touching Marigold because she thought Marigold would scratch her yet she wasn't scared of feeding Rumble."

Ziggy - "Room 20 fed Rumble but he didn't eat the leaves from our garden."

Zak - "We first had to listen to Mrs Rogers so we knew what to do."

Bilal - "They didn't eat our rainbow silverbeet so instead we left the silverbeet."

That's not cool.

We have been learning to use more precise words.
'Cool' is a hard word to imagine.

The aeroplane was cool.
My friend is cool.

What does that even mean?

We wrote some sentences replacing the word cool. Which sentence do you think sounds the coolest?

Today we are making paper planes.  We chose one design and we need to read and follow the instructions.

Calendar Art Awesomeness

For calendar art this year we used a technique called sgraffito, or scratch art. We layered paint over pastel, and then scratched off our design. Get your orders in now for this amazing art. Every student will have brought home and order form. Orders are due back on the 23rd of September.
